Bittersweet was a solo exhibition by emerging artist Maddie Brown, held at The Satellite Gallery at Sam Houston State University. The exhibition featured a collection of feminine, textile-based multimedia works combining painting, drawing, alternative process photography, and sculpture. Exploring themes of childhood memory and girlhood, Bittersweet investigated the representation of femininity and domesticity within the gallery space while intertwining personal memories and the artist’s conflicting desires to return to girlhood. The exhibition reflected Brown’s ongoing exploration of identity, nostalgia, and the complex emotional terrain of womanhood.
